My problem is, when I completed the PlexJob order, the site leaded me to
download a file of type application/x-java-jnlp-file that my browser (Mozilla)
didn't know what it is. Please tell me what should I do with this file.
There are two ways to install PlexJob. First you can download
binaries for your respective operating system available at
http://www.plexobject.com/software/plexjob/download.html
The other option is to install "Java Web Start" available freely from
http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/download.html
and then type
http://www.plexobject.com:8080/plexjob/plexjob.jnlp
on your browser.
First method will be simpler for novice users. Also, make sure that
if you are downloading the software without VM then download and
install Java 1.4 from
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/download.html
Also, make sure that if Java is already installed on your system then
it is 1.4 or later, otherwise download Java 1.4 or later and reinstall.
Problems with Java Web Start:
Try uninstalling the application and re-installing it.
I get java.lang.RuntimeException:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:java/util/prefs/BackingStoreExcpeption: Java 1.4 comes with Java Web Start 1.2.
How do I execute PlexJob from jar file :
After installing Java 1.4 and installing PlexJob, follow these procedures:
Open shell such as DOS shell or bash
cd to the "lib" directory where PlexJob.zip was unzipped. For example cd \PlexJob\lib
Type java -jar StartPlexjob.jar If you have Windows you can also create a shortcut to your desktop by
right-cliking on your desktop
select New
select shortcut
choose "Browse..." to go in bin directory such as "\PlexJob\lib"
double-click StartPlexjob.jar
click Next and type PlexJob for shortcut-name
click Finish.
